As I've continued getting older and more "mature," it has become increasingly clear that I have more than just a passing interest in gaming. It's an undeniable passion, and I've decided it's about time to start contributing to the gaming community instead of just following it. So here we go:
For my introductory post, I figure I'll share some background on me.
I've been a gamer for well over 20 years; some of my earliest memories involve Rampage, Missile Command, and River Raid (my favorite), an Atari 2600, and a tiny black-and-white tv. When I was a bit older, I started using a notebook to keep a running total of all my gaming-related scores. Since then, I've played all manner of games, branching into the table-top variety as well.
More recently, my drive for the highest of high scores has made me a bit of an achievement whore, so I spend a lot of time chasing Xbox Live achievements. I also spend a fair amount of time on the Starcraft 2 ladder (DannyDubs.203). I got back into the Kingdom of Loathing in the last couple years, under the alias SchrodingerCat. Finally, I've started playing Magic: The Gathering a lot more; nothing too competitive, but a lot of casual drafts and constructed among friends.
Anyway, I want to use this blog as a forum for my thoughts on games and gaming. I might use it to talk about games I like (or games I loathe). I might describe strategies for progressing in a game or obtaining an achievement or building a crazy MtG deck. I might just rant.
I guess we'll have to see where it really goes...
